Burn Camp

The high point of the clubs program is 'Camp Horizon' which is an activity holiday for children aged 8 to 18, this provides an opportunity for them to take on new challenges and enjoy themselves in the company of other 'burns survivors'.

The children are split into small groups according to their age, so that they are able to enjoy the activity without competition from their elders. Each group along with our volunteer helpers and Grafhams fully trained staff, will have fun packed days where they can do Archery, Wind Surfing, Canoeing, Cycling, Climbing, Arts & Crafts and much more. The groups usually have a day trip as well, this may entail Karting, Theme Park and even Flying with the Rural Flying Corp at Bourne.

The accommodation at Grafham Water Centre is superb and fully equipped. The restaurant caters for all their requirements with a variety of meals for the most decerning taste, Everyone will dine together, which makes it fun and a very sociable time.

During the evening there is a communial room where music, karaoke and games can be played, this gives everyone the chance to mix and chill-out.

At the end of the week its 'Party Time' this is usually based on a theme where everyone gets involved and really have a great time.

Wednesday at camp is the club 'Club Open Day' where visitors such as Sponsors, Patrons and Guests come to see what life at camp is like. They too, are able to get involved with the activities of the day and mix with the children, this gives our guests a chance to appreciate what the burned children's club does and how Camp Horizon can make a difference.

During the afternoon everything turns chaotic, the fire services arrive and let the children explore the fire appliances and equipment, this usually means that anyone close by gets soaked. There are outdoor games, bouncy castles and lots to do.

Dreamflight

We have been very fortunate over the last few years to have children from our Club go to the Theme Parks in Florida with Dreamflight.

We would like to thank all those members of the Escort Group, 'Baloo Bear' past and present who are based in the UK and USA, for giving our young members a trip of a lifetime.
